We are teachers.
So give us the benefit of the doubt when we say that there is an immense first conclusion bias when it comes to doing math questions, not just at the primary school level but at all levels. Believe us because we have those same biases too.
What is the first conclusion bias?
It is the tendency to jump to conclusions immediately without thinking logically.
Now, of course at Singaporemathguru, we always try to offer solutions. In our videos on youtube and on this very site, we offer up meaningful ways to train away these biases. For example, first principles thinking and other methods take away the guesswork and many of these biases.
First principles thinking is about working with certainty rather than uncertainty and guesswork. The idea is to put pen to paper and then work from a point of certainty.
